From January 26 to 28, the future of smart cities and innovation in waste management will take center stage at IFAT Saudi Arabia, at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center. We at Innovation4Waste will be present at Stand 3E44 – Hall 3, ready to redefine this future together.

The context: the challenge of Saudi sustainability

With an annual waste output exceeding 110 million tons, waste management in Saudi Arabia is no longer just a logistical necessity but a strategic government priority. The challenge is to transform these figures into resources, shifting from traditional management to a digitized, circular economy model.

IoT solutions for containers, bins, and waste receptacles

Making a city smart means making its containers “speak.” To transform a city into a true smart city, it is fundamental to digitize and enable communication for key infrastructure, including bins. Equipped with IoT technology, these become intelligent parts of a dynamic urban management network.

Here is an overview of what we will showcase:

  • ID-Access: the evolved access control system that empowers citizens, ensuring secure and tracked waste disposal.
  • SmartLevel Matrix: the filling sensor that changes logistics rules, allowing street bins to be emptied only when necessary, reducing traffic and emissions.
  • Asset Track-ID: the solution to never lose sight of roll-off containers, tracking them in real-time.

IoT solutions for waste collection

When it comes to waste collection in the smart city, Innovation4Waste technology transforms collection vehicles into mobile hubs of data in motion, collected and transmitted in real-time to a cloud platform. This technology embraces the vehicle 360°:

  • For the vehicle exterior: maximum efficiency guaranteed by RFID readers BlackIP (for single-chamber systems) and WhiteIP (for dual-chamber systems), both controlled by the new 8-button Keasyboard keypad.
  • For the interior: the truck cabin transforms into a true control center for the driver thanks to the introduction of the Smart Truck Obu, cutting-edge technology – which can be integrated with Artificial Intelligence – flanked by an Android Touch Screen monitor.

Finally, for the operator, we will discuss Discovery Mobile, an innovative UHF RFID wristband for the optimization of automatic waste collection. This wearable device guarantees rapid and reliable tag reading, even in difficult conditions.
