Innovation4Waste goes to Ecomondo 2025

From November 4–7 in Rimini, the Italian company will showcase its Cloud-based IoT ecosystem that transforms waste management in the smart city.

IoT technologies are playing an increasingly strategic role in waste management, enabling better tracking and operational efficiency while reducing costs and eliminating inefficiencies.

From November 4-7, Innovation4Waste will be exhibiting at Ecomondo 2025, the Italian Exhibition Group’s flagship event, held at Fiera Rimini. Now in its 28th edition and recognized as a key European and Mediterranean event for the green, blue, and circular economy, Ecomondo is the ideal platform for Innovation4Waste to present its most advanced solutions.

Innovation4Waste, the new brand of Partitalia, develops IoT-based solutions for waste collection, optimizing data accuracy, service quality, and traceability. With more than 2,400 clients across Europe and worldwide, and over 15,000 connected devices, the company is a pioneer in smart waste innovation. At Hall C5, Booth 407, Innovation4Waste will introduce its Smart Waste Management System—a complete Cloud-integrated IoT ecosystem designed to transform waste management in the smart city and adapt to different operational scenarios.

Data collection in door-to-door waste management with RFID

Innovation4Waste’s connected solutions for door-to-door collection ensure traceability of disposals and automatic, reliable data acquisition, enabling incentive-based models such as PAYT (Pay-As-You-Throw).

At the heart of the system is BlackIP, a high-power, standalone RFID vehicle reader, designed to withstand shocks, vibrations, and harsh weather conditions. This rugged device ensures precise and automatic RFID tag reading—each tag uniquely linked to a user—during sack or bin emptying, with a reading range of up to 8 meters.

BlackIP can be installed in two modes to meet different operational needs:

  • Through Smart Truck OBU, the On-Board Unit that tracks and manages collection vehicles in real time, enabling two-way communication with the Cloud and optionally paired with the Android Touch Screen monitor for complete visibility of field data.
  • Through the Keasyboard, a new 8-key keyboard—premiering at Ecomondo—that allows operators to report up to eight different anomalies.

Also debuting at the Rimini show is the Discovery Mobile, redesigned with a high-power UHF antenna. This wearable device enables operators to perform automatic, filtered, and hands-free RFID tag reading on sacks and bins during door-to-door collection—without changing workflows and with zero installation costs.

IoT solutions to optimize collection logistics

Innovation4Waste also focuses on logistics optimization, aiming to cut operational costs and reduce environmental impact.

Among its solutions is Asset Track-ID, an IoT system for tracking roll-off containers, which ensures fast recovery of misplaced, abandoned, or unused roll-off containers—avoiding unnecessary replacement expenses.

Another key innovation is IoT-enabled controlled-access waste disposal through Cloud-connected electronic locks. ID-Access, the smart lock for roadside containers (1,100 liters and above), restricts use to authorized users only, preventing illegal dumping. Equipped with an integrated camera to detect anomalies and the Smart Level Matrix sensor to constantly monitor container fill levels, ID-Access provides unprecedented control and transparency.
With these tools, municipalities and operators can plan collections more effectively, reducing unnecessary pickups and optimizing routes. The result: fewer vehicle trips, less urban traffic congestion, and significantly lower CO₂ emissions.
